James Mathenge Chief Executive Officer, HTN

James Mathenge is the C.E.O. of Heroes of the Nation organization with over 20 years of leadership experience. James joined Heroes in 2020. He chairs the Executive Committee and acts as the spokesperson of HTN Kenya. He provides strategic leadership and advises the committee on leadership decisions. He is a champion of good governance, credible and authentic leadership that is needed in achieving national as well as organization goals and aspirations. James loves winning trophies for Christ through his work.

Dr. Violet Gitonga Founding Director/Manager WellBeing, HTN

Violet Gitonga is a co-founder of Heroes of the Nation (HTN), established in 2002 alongside Andrew Sieveright and the late Weston Gitonga. With over 38 years of experience in teaching and leadership, she brings deep wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the organization. Violet holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Counselling Psychology from Breakthrough University and serves on the HTN Executive Committee. As Manager of the Wellbeing Department, Violet plays a pivotal role in nurturing the mental, emotional, psychological, and spiritual health of both students and staff. Her work ensures a safe and supportive environment where individuals can grow in resilience, purpose, and faith. Through guidance, counseling, mentorship, and encouragement, she continues to impact lives across all levels of the HTN community. Violet is also a passionate advocate and ambassador for HTN, representing the organization both locally and internationally. Her love for music, drama, and preaching enriches her connection with the students and adds vibrancy to the HTN culture.

Kelvin Mbiriri HTN Campus Manager

Kelvin Mbiriri Wanjuhi serves as the Campus Manager at Heroes of the Nation, where he oversees the day-to-day operations of both the Comprehensive and High School divisions. He is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of campus activities, maintaining facilities, and creating a safe, orderly, and supportive environment for students and staff. Kelvin joined HTN in June 2020 and is a valued member of the Executive Committee. He holds a Master of Finance from Griffith University, Australia, and a Bachelor of Education (Science) from Kenyatta University—both earned under the Heroes of the Nation sponsorship program. His academic journey reflects the transformative impact of HTN's mission. Passionate about mentorship and personal growth, Kelvin is known for his dedication, leadership, and love for travel. His commitment to excellence continues to shape a vibrant and nurturing campus culture.

Simon Githaiga Director of Schools, HTN

Simon Githaiga is the Director of the HTN Schools. He joined HTN as a teacher and later became the Principal before raising ranks to his current position. He is a trained teacher and has a post graduate degree in Business Management. Simon offers skills development and career guidance to the students. He also oversees the operations of the schools including curriculum selection. He works closely with the Discipleship Director to ensure 100% transition of students from High school to a tertiary level of education. He is also a member of the Executive Committee. Simon is passionate about mentorship and business.

Sophia Kimeu Sponsorship and Partnership Manager, HTN

Sophia Kimeu serves as the Executive Assistant to the CEO and the Sponsorship and Partnership Manager at Heroes of the Nation. Since joining HTN in June 2017 as an accountant, Sophia has risen through the ranks, earning a place on the Executive Committee and becoming a key figure in both executive support and organizational development. In her dual role, Sophia provides critical administrative and strategic support to the CEO and the Executive Committee. She coordinates executive outreach, manages external relations, and leads special projects that drive HTN’s mission forward. As Sponsorship and Partnership Manager, Sophia is responsible for initiating, nurturing, and managing impactful relationships with sponsors and partners. Her work ensures the smooth execution of sponsorship programs and the development of mutually beneficial collaborations that strengthen HTN’s growth and sustainability. Sophia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Laikipia University, alongside professional certifications in Digital Marketing and CPA. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and is deeply passionate about charity and community development initiatives.

John Ndegwa Discipleship and Mentorship Manager, HTN

John Ndegwa leads the Discipleship and Mentorship Department at HTN with a heart for spiritual transformation and leadership development. Since joining HTN in July 2021, he has played a key role in shaping a Christ-centered culture through structured discipleship, mentorship, and training. John also serves as a member of HTN’s Executive Committee. He oversees all student discipleship programs and manages the Discipleship Training Center, laying a strong foundation for spiritual growth. With a wealth of experience gained from working with over 20 mission groups locally and internationally, John brings deep insight into guiding young children, teenagers, and adults toward a life of purpose and faith. Under his leadership, the discipleship program has positively impacted both students and staff, mentoring them to live in a way that honors God. Teachers and students alike are trained to embody Christlike values in their daily lives. Notably, all HTN students participate in a three-month discipleship and mentorship program before transitioning to university or college. John also coordinates the ROPES program, further equipping students with the spiritual and life skills they need for the next chapter of their journey. Driven by a deep passion for missions, John continues to inspire others to live out their faith with conviction and service.

Cyrus Kingori Kiboi Operations Manager, HTN

Cyrus King’ori Kiboi is the Operations Manager at Heroes of the Nation, responsible for ensuring that the operations department functions efficiently and effectively in all aspects. He focuses on optimizing operational processes and enhancing overall performance to support the organization’s goals. Cyrus joined HTN in June 2020 and is a member of the Executive Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laikipia University and a Diploma in Business Management, both attained through HTN’s sponsorship program. Outside his professional role, Cyrus enjoys singing and training children to play the keyboard, adding a creative touch to the HTN community.

Sam West Head Of Communication & Kingdom Nation Outreach

Sam West is the Head of the Kingdom Nation Department at Heroes of the Nation, where he leads with passion, purpose, and a deep commitment to youth transformation. An anointed man of God, Sam has dedicated his life to changing the lives of young people through powerful messages, mentorship, and regional missions. His outreach has impacted over 8 million youth globally. He is a graduate of Griffith University, Australia, with a degree in International Business, and brings with him a wealth of experience in media. Sam is also the founder of Hero FM, a radio station based in Nakuru, Kenya, which serves as a platform for inspiration, empowerment, and community engagement. Through the Kingdom Nation initiative, Sam continues to inspire, equip, and guide the next generation, ensuring that each young person is empowered to fulfill their God-given purpose.
